Students will read about the same study by the Spanish National Research Council that was referenced in the first video clip. Then students will identify the academic language words used in the article. First the teacher should have students write the academic language words used in the article in their electronic journals.

Then they will reflect on the videos, articles, and T-charts to determine their stance on the issue and create an outline for their editorial in their electronic notebook. Then they will partner up with one other student and they will give each other peer feedback and revise and edit their articles. Once students have completed their final drafts, they will publish it on their online portfolios in a page called Editorial. Students are required to use at least 5 academic language words, transition words, and academic language functions in their editorial.
